Preparing For Armageddon

If the end of the world is in fact near, I will be spending my last days eating desserts, wearing pyjamas and drinking champagne. Classy.

The last catch-up with my friend Alex involved heart-stopping pancakes & blintzes (which required an hour of travel – but were so worth it). It is now understood that when we hang out, it’s really just an excuse to eat delicious and sinful food.

As American as apple pie.

Armageddon Cake Dessert Bar on Urbanspoon

Last night certainly didn’t disappoint – Armageddon Cake. Even the name is delicious. The interior is the finest op-shop decor. Messy, mixed, whatever the case its quirky kitsch and suits the novelty of a desserts-only cafe.

I ordered the Apple Pie, with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream on the sly. The crust was unbelievably crunchy, but not tough, and the apple soft and sweet, with a hint of some type of berry sauce that I can’t decide on (somewhere in the raspberry category).

YIKES … and yum.

Alex had, and I quote ‘Sinfully Wicked Chocolate Brownie’, that looked (and literally, sounded) like the crunchiest brownie ever.

She told me that it was crunchy on the outside and beautifully (there is no other word) moist on the inside.

I’m siding with Marie Antoinette on this one. Let them eat cake (and pie).

  1. That pie sounded good but if I’m honest my heart lies with that brownie :) sounds like a great cafe!

  2. Yum! I’m not really into deserts as such, but those look mighty tasty! Even though Melbourne has some of the most decadent cafes with deserts, the best, hands down, is the generic mars bar cake served at many places (gloria jeans, groove train etc)- its so good!

  3. says:

Armageddon happened in 1918. Bon appetite.
